Language, Pouring, & Simple Sensorial

This week we said goodbye to Grandpa and hello to some cooler weather and one crazy thunderstorm! Not much (or any) kids in action pictures, but here’s what we’ve been doing:

We’ve been using this book to help teach Otto parts of the body.

This is a language sorting activity. I picked a few cards and various items for each sound. Joey hasn’t shown much interest in this work.

Simple counting.

Pouring with a funnel

Tonging. Even though this is for Joey, Otto really likes playing with the wooden balls and hitting them against the tin.

This was one of our Christmas toys. It’s from Little Sapling Toys and it’s a fun, little non-traditional sensorial activity.

Simple sound cylinders. They’re pretty simple. I wanted it to be an activity that both Joey and Otto could do, so I left the jars uncovered. I’m planning to cover them (or paint the insides), so that Joey can do the activity without matching the contents by sight.

What have you been doing this week? Making plans for the new school year?

Hi just founc your post your link up on One Hook Wonder 🙂
I have to start making language activities for my lil one too soon!
I also made my own sound cylinders but instead of painting the insides I did something else because I thought constant playing might scratch the paint due to the contents. Heres what I did

I love the tonging lesson too – those wooden balls are just perfect for that scoop. Thanks for linking to Montessori Monday!

Great activities! I like Umamah’s idea of using construction paper to hide the objects in the sound cylinders! You could also have Joey use a blindfold for the sound cylinders. Sounds like your boys are having wonderful Montessori experiences! 🙂
