Shelf Work: 1st Week of October

Shelf Work

Shelf Work

This week our shelf looks a little bare. I parred down and changed up the work, because last week I noticed that Joey really didn’t choose anything off the shelf, aside from the opening and closing work.

So, I switched it up added two new work and made an extension for the opening and closing work. Here’s what’s there:

Matching Pairs

Matching Pairs

Joey still hasn’t shown much of an interest in this work and I haven’t done too good of a job presenting a lesson with it either. We’ll try again this week, but he just may not be ready for the whole matching thing yet.

Putting on a Hat

Putting on a Hat

I haven’t actually given Joey a lesson for this work yet, but I figure it’s good for him to learn and get used to putting on and wearing a hat with fall upon us and winter around the corner. He went through a spell this summer where he refused to wear a hat unless he realized the sun was directly in his eyes. Come winter, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind one. 🙂

Treasure Basket: Fall

Treasure Basket: Fall

I opted to wait a week or two for the primary colors treasure basket extension and in it’s place put this. Joey was in awe of it the first day it was on the shelf and carried the corn around with him for about 20 minutes! I’m actually surprised that no corn is missing yet.

Opening & Closing Extension

Opening & Closing Extension

This is the extension for the opening and closing work from last week. Inside each of the containers there’s an object for Joey to pull out. I’ll explain more in another post. This is probably his favorite work for the week.

Time’s pressing, the little one is crying, and I have to be somewhere in 10 minutes. Brevity is the key today!
