Homemade Infant/Toddler Montessori Materials

I love Montessori materials, but sometimes they are just so expensive especially when you’d like to have more than one or two. I’ve been looking for awhile at Montessori Outlet’s Infant/Toddler materials and was planning on buying the Object Permanence box. It’s around $20, but then I found out the shipping would cost $20 and that put a little dent in my plan.

I shared this with my husband and he asked to see a picture of what I wanted. A few minutes later I had my Infant/Toddler wishlist and a willing carpenter. With the help of my dad, we’ll have five homemade Montessori materials by the end of the week. Yeah!

Here’s what was on my wishlist:

I’m so excited to be able to have sturdy, handcrafted materials to use with my son as we homeschool! My husband is already thinking ahead to a pink tower and number rods. Of course, that’s a bit far away for us right now…but I’m excited!

If I had bought the materials from Montessori Outlet it would have cost around $100, but with a little sweat equity and supplies from Lowe’s it cost us around $50!

I can’t wait until they’re done.
